Even thou the restaurant is situated among sports and recreational objects, it’s easy to find, since its exterior is covered in stone and decorated with columns. Some nice apartments can be found for rent nearby as well.

The interior is just as classy as you would expect when entering such a facility. Restaurant Duje has a capacity of 110 seats.

Mr. Mario Matijasevic, the owner of restaurant Duje is a prominent figure in the restaurant and he strives to achieve a pleasant contact with his guests. His personal approach also extends to the quality and freshness of the food, for which he can personally guarantee.

Restaurant Duje has a noted tradition of culinary excellence. It was repeatedly selected among the top 100 restaurants in Croatia, during the last decade. Restaurant Duje was opened in year 1992, and at first it was a small pizza place.

With time it grew expanding its capacity and its range of culinary delights. Today, it is a well-known restaurant, offering various dishes, fish and meet specialties, as well as shellfish and crustaceans. Recently, the menu was enriched with Istrian truffles.

The restaurant is located on the premises of the Gripe basketball hall, and its guests can use two parking lots within the Gripe sports center.

When you get to the second viewpoint (which offers great view of the houses in this, sometimes called elite part of Split), you can continue down a trail that leads to Sedlo, and further down the south slopes – along the Marangunic promenade. Next to the second viewpoint, you’ll find the St. Nicholas church, and down the Marangunic promenade, there’s the church of St. Jerome.

There are records of hermit settlements at the spot of today’s St. Jerome church. Near the church, there’s a hermit cave, where by the legends, St. Jerome dwelt. If you continue walking down the road, you’ll get to the Institute of Oceanography, where the ramp marks the end of the hill.

If you choose to rent an affordable priced apartment in Split, and you like spending time in nature, perhaps event pick up on your old exercising habit, be sure to visit Marjan’s north side.

Marjan hill is inseparable from Split, and so it has been since the time Dioclentian’s palace was built. Even before the palace was built, there was the temple of ancient Roman goddess Diana on Marjan. The Roman settlement Spalatum had a road to the Diana temple on Marjan, which proves the historical significance of Marjan hill.

The walk along the south slopes of Marjan usually begins by the first viewpoint, located at the top of the ‘’Nazorov prilaz’’ street. From there, you can climb to the second viewpoint, either by walking uphill on Botic promenade, or up the steps. Next to the first viewpoint, you’ll find a caffe with great view on the whole Split peninsula, and the old Jewish cemetery.

Marjan is a popular spot for family picnics, long walks, running and cycling alike, whether you come from Split, or you are a tourist staying in an apartmentor hotel. On the north side of the hill, you enter the forest park through the north gates. From there, you can walk along the road or on the jogging trail. The jogging trail was built in 1974, and along the way, it has rest stops and some training benches. Your progress on this road is marked by water stops.The usual route is 1800 m long – from the south gates to Bene (St. Benedict’s bay), where you’ll find a beach, a few sports objects, playgrounds and pony rides. You can continue your walk further down the road, to the far tip of the Marjan.  This will take you to the Marjan south side.

Marjan hill is located on the west part of the Split peninsula. At the foot of Marjan hill, lies the city of Split. Marjan is a protected forest park, and a great place to go when you want to get in touch with the nature and relax.

The Marjan hill is 178 m high, and its highest peak is Telegrin. Its length is 3,5 km, and maximum width is 1,5 km. About half of its area is covered with pine trees.The reforestation of Marjan began in year 1852, at the Jewish cemetery. Two years later, the municipality starts reforesting of the whole hill.

Between Ovcice and Bacvice, there is a playground, with slides, swings, inflatable castles, and other fun things. Conveniently, a cafe overseas the playground, making it ideal spot for busy parents.

Ovcice beach are also a popular open stage during the summer in Split. Often, you can find an interesting concert on the beach. Also, the beach cafe is a popular destination among Split’s youth in the nighttime, even if there are no concerts on the beach.

The beach terrace of the cafe is a great place to relax in the afternoon after taking a swim, and if you feel like it, you can stay there and wait for the night crowd.
